Newsreel shots from the festivities surrounding the celebration of Gainesville’s centennial include parades, pageants, and the opening of the local zoo. Named for Frank Buck, Gainesville native and famous animal collector from the early 20th century, the zoo was comprised of animals retired from the popular Gainesville Community Circus and is still running today.
