Presented by News and Information Service at the University of Texas at Austin, this 1980 promotional film reviews the nature of higher education and the academic achievements at the university. The narrator describes the University of Texas as one of “the highest level,” where innovative ideas and research resources set it apart from other academic institutions. The film then details various projects and experiments run by numerous departments, including the Marine Science Institute, the Institute of Geophysics, the Genetics Institute, and the Humanities Resource Center. Bill Mackie, who directed the film, was a professor in the Radio-Television-Film Department at the University of Texas. He now works as an independent broadcast media professional.
