This film captures the 5A boys basketball state semifinal between the Galveston Ball Golden Tornadoes and the North Mesquite Stallions. The game was played on March 12, 1982, at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. The Golden Tornadoes are wearing purple jerseys. While the Stallions led by a point at halftime, the Golden Tornadoes took command of the game in the final minutes, winning 55-48. The following day, Ball faced the San Antonio Churchill Chargers in the finals. The Golden Tornadoes lost 75-74, finishing the season as state runnerup with a 35-6 record. The Galveston Independent School District selected Ball High School basketball coach T. Berry coach of the year on March 17. Opening in 1884, Ball is currently the only public high school in Galveston.
