This raw footage, shot for the documentary Galveston: The Gilded Age of the Golden Isle, captures laborers picking cotton in Galveston. The film was directed by University of Houston alumnus Robert Cozens for KUHT, Houston’s PBS affiliate. The completed documentary was broadcast nationally on PBS on June 24, 1977.
