In these two edited segments from Good Morning Austin broadcasts for Austin’s KVUE-TV, Roy Faires reviews the latest movies and previews the upcoming summer blockbusters. The first segment consists of his reviews for Above the Law (1988) and Permanent Record (1988). Faires finds the first, actor Steven Segal’s film debut, plot-heavy yet enjoyable. Faires rates Permanent Record, on the other hand, the best film playing in Austin at the time. In the second segment, Faires gives a summer movie preview, highlighting Red Heat, The Dead Pool, Rambo III, The Presidio, Crocodile Dundee II, Arthur 2: On the Rocks, Big Business, Caddyshack II, Coming to America, Funny Farm, The Great Outdoors, Big, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Eight Men Out, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, Bull Durham, and Willow. Faires worked as a special project director and entertainment critic/reporter at KVUE-TV, Austin’s ABC affiliate, from 1976-1989.
