This footage captures scenes of a parade held in Cat Spring, Texas and the Ft. Bend County Farm Bureau Meeting in 1956. In Cat Spring, marching bands, pageant royalty, church groups, and agricultural clubs participate in the parade before a community barbecue and pageant. The Fort Bend County Farm Bureau Meeting that follows was held at the Rue Ranch near Simonton, Texas. Families enjoy hay rides, ice cream eating contests, and turtle races. The producer of this film, Jim W. Keeland, was a photographer and videographer in the Houston area for sixty years. He took photographs and films for Houston's NBC affiliate, KPRC-TV, from 1948 until 1961, worked for the Houston Post from 1951 to 1982 as a printer, and was a freelance photographer of agricultural subjects.
