Established in 1957, the Treasure Ball is an annual Mardi Gras event hosted by the Treasure Ball Association to benefit the O’Connell School System in Galveston. In addition to the ball, festivities include a pageant in which a royal court is selected from participating high school juniors and seniors. This home movie captures the royalty pageant from a Treasure Ball most likely in the 1970s. Fanfare welcomes the regal court as its members show off their elaborately designed capes and trains.
