This 1937 newsreel footage captures President Franklin D. Roosevelt attempts to land an 80-pound tarpon in the Gulf of Mexico. The President began his 11-day fishing cruise in New Orleans on April 29. He docked in Galveston on May 11, receiving a warm reception in the Oleander City before boarding a train back to Washington, DC.
