Teach Texas - Local and Community History

Local and community history is the study of history in the local geographical context, incorporating cultural and social aspects of a distinct community. Oftentimes, local and community history is documented by local groups through oral histories, and can be reflected by the preservation of local historic building and historic sites. Local and community history is often preserved by citizens and/or amateur historians within a community, often reflecting broader state-wide, national, and in some cases, world-wide historical, geographical, and economic events.
