  •  "When you put on the safety it makes it safe"
  •  Campfire turns into forest fire
  •  This is a beauty isn't it?  Yes it is.  Powerful instrument this high powered rifle.  When you put on the safety it makes it safe.  Fellows, here's what an even more powerful instrument, right here the match.  When you strike it, whatever you do to light a cigarette or fire, be sure that you crush it an put it out- put the safety on this match.  Shake it out before you cast it aside.  Be sure it's dead out.
  •  And don't cast away your live cigarettes promiscuously.  And how about your campfires fellas?  Be sure that they're completely out, not just maybe out because a sudden gust of wind can blow the ashes aside and a little spark of fire can hit the dry leaves, and boy you got a forest fire coming up pretty sure.
  •  So let's do that, huh?  Cause you might destroy a lot of valuable forest, timber, and habitat for our wildlife.  When timber's gone it can also cause lots of damage to our nice, clear freshwater stream.  So fellas, let's keep 'em swimming, running, and flying by being good cooperaters 'cause remember, together we can, there is a tomorrow.

This public service announcement from the Texas Forest Service features Harley Berg, previous Texas game warden and host of the Harley Berg Show, comparing a gun safety to an extinguished match in his plea to hunters to practice fire prevention and ensure all campfires, matches, and cigarettes are dead out before leaving them.

Established as a result of the organization of the Texas Forest Association in 1914 and the forestry law passed by the Texas legislature in 1915 the Texas Forest Service is directed by a state forester appointed by the board of directors of Texas A&M College. When it was founded, the objectives of the Texas Forest Service were to persuade and aid private owners of forest land in practicing forestry and converting submarginal agricultural lands to productive forests; to protect private forest lands against forest wildfires, insects, and disease; to inform the public of the contribution that forests, a renewable natural resource, make to the economy of the state; to educate Texans in uses and abuses of forest products; and to assist forest products industries in developing new products and improving production techniques. Currently, the Texas Forest Service's mission focuses on providing statewide leadership to assure the state's trees, forests and related natural resources are protected and sustained for the benefit of all.
