Cellular telephones today are significantly different from the ones being offered for sale in this 1987 RadioShack advertisement produced by Dallas-based firm Visual Presentations. In 1963, for roughly $300,000.00, RadioShack was purchased from its founders by the Fort Worth, Texas, based Tandy Corporation.  The Tandy Corporation had started as a leather company leading to RadioShack briefly being named "Tandy Radio Shack & Leather," though the company soon narrowed its focus to the consumer electronics market.  Today RadioShack is a nationally recognized chain headquartered in Fort Worth.
