New Releases: November 2015

A month has passed since the Texas Archive of the Moving Image brought the award-winning Texas Film Round-Up to Fort Worth, and we are excited to begin sharing some of the amazing films we collected! Our local partner, the Fort Worth Library, contributed multiple collections from organizations all across the city, capturing not only the history of Fort Worth but also the diversity of its communities.

One of our favorite finds so far is a 1970s promotional film from the Library’s First National Bank of Fort Worth Collection. Narrated by none other than Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart, “Fort Worth: The Unexpected City” highlights the quality of life found where the West begins, from Fort Worth’s thriving arts district to its friendly cowboy heritage to its booming economy. Prominent local figures such as Stockyards owner Steve Murrin, philanthropist Alann Sampson, businessman Charles Tandy, and legendary journalist Bob Ray Sanders also lend commentary.
