Dispatch: August 2013 

This month, the Midland County and Ector County public libraries hosted the Texas Film Round-Up, resulting in the contribution of approximately 1,200 films and videos to the archive.  Midland’s Petroleum Museum hosted a program featuring films from the Texas Archive related to the region and the petroleum industry alongside a presentation on tips for home media preservation during their Brown Bag Lunch series.  Read more in press coverage of the events:

August will see TAMI returning to the El Paso Plaza Classic Film Festival for the 4th time to collect films and screen materials from the archive on the weekend of August 9th.   Read more about the Round-Up in the El Paso Times.  
 
In other news, Texas Archive films appeared in several interesting places this month:
  • The El Paso Police Department History linked to several of TAMI’s El Paso films  including footage from former Chief of Police C.J. Horak.
