  •  09/30/70: Large quantities of mail are sorted and processed by machines and post office employees 
  •  A Post office spokesperson rejects the notion of a deliberate slowdown of mail delivery and possible solutions to improve efficiency for smaller communities 
  •  Corpus Christi Wrap, 09/30/70: Construction crews work to repair homes that were damaged during Hurricane Celia. The Category 3 hurricane made landfall near Corpus Christi on August 3. Celia destroyed nearly half of all structures in the Corpus Christi area, making it the costliest tropical cyclone in Texas history until Hurricane Alicia in 1983.  
  •  KHOU reporter Judd McIlvain asks Corpus Christi Mayor Jack Blackmon about any possible shortage of construction materials and skilled laborers. Blackmon served on the Corpus Christi City Council from 1963 and 1967 and as mayor from 1967 to 1971. Celia was the second major hurricane to strike the city during his tenure. Hurricane Buelah made landfall in September 1967. Blackmon imposed emergency wage and price controls to promote restoration efforts.  
  •  Postman, 09/30/70: A postman comments on the need to register and vaccinate dogs 
  •  Jewel Burglary, 09/30/70: Law enforcement officers handle stolen jewelry as part of a burglary investigation

This film from KHOU-TV Channel 11 in Houston contains a series of short news segments that would have aired as highlights to news stories. Many are silent and would have been voiced over by the anchorperson during a live broadcast. The titles for each segment are the originals created by KHOU-TV. The clips on this reel all date from September 30, 1970. This series includes news segments about mail service, rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Celia, and a jewelry theft.
