“Texas” is a 1970s educational film series produced by KHOU-TV. The Tejanos, hosted by Houston news anchor Bill Balleza, focuses on the history of natives Texans between the Spanish colonial era and the Civil War. (The term Tejano generally refers to Texans of Spanish or Mexican heritage.) Part II discusses Tejanos’ involvement in several military conflicts of the 19th century, including the Mexican War of Independence, the Texas Revolution, the Mexican-American War, and the Civil War. It also mentions the racial discrimination Tejanos began to experience as Anglo-American immigrants flooded the state.
