This newsreel from 1949 highlights nine major news stories from around the world. Of note is a story about Lucky Lady II, the first airplane to circle the world nonstop. The aircraft started and ended its trip at Carswell Air Force Base near Fort Worth, seen in the film. The journey took 94 hours and 1 minute. Other topics include the ending of the blockade in West Berlin, Germany; fighting during the Chinese Communist Revolution; natural disasters in Ecuador and Mexico; a fatality at the Indianapolis 500 automobile race; and the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty, including footage of United States President of Harry S. Truman.
