Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson comes to Williams College for an honorary degree. President John Sawyer escorts the First Lady to the ceremony at Chapin Hall.
She took no formal notice of a group of anti-war pickets who staged a silent vigil protesting the Vietnam War.
Some seventy-five student demonstrators walked out of the auditorium, where Mrs. Johnson was given an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree for her national beautification program.
Despite the demonstration, the First Lady is warmly applauded.
