The hoola hoop scene includes three of Jesse P. Bell’s seven grandchildren playing at his house in Lampasas, Texas on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The boy with hoop is Curtis Durham, and the girl is his sister, Shirley Durham. Their parents (now deceased) are Clifford and Katherine (Bell) Durham, and they lived on a farm near Topsey, Texas at the time, also in Lampasas County. The boy without the hoop is Wendell Bell, son of Morris Bell, Gatesville, Texas.
